Senhora da Boa Estrela - Serra da Estrela - Portugal GPS coordinates: 40.323029, -7.602326 Our Lady of the Good Star (Senhora da Boa Estrela) is a bas-relief sculpture appearing in a huge block of granite. It is located in Covão do Boi, in the Natural Park of Serra da Estrela, not far from the Torre which is also the highest point of Portugal. I had seen this photo sculpture before and she really impressed me. This is one of the reasons why this natural park is part of our itinerary. In fact, this sculpture represents the patron saint of shepherds and it was made by António Duart. Its inauguration took place in 1946. There is a small parking lot on the side of the road and you can see it very well from this place. However, if you want to see it more closely, a small path with steps leads to the foot of this magnificent sculpture that is 7 meters high. The landscape is really spectacular in this region. Many rock formations, some really amazing, stand in front of us. That's why we took the opportunity to do a little hike in this area to observe them. We even discovered a small waterfall near the sculpture. During our walk, we saw an insect that struggled in a funny way on the ground. It seemed like a caterpillar (I'm not sure), but a large part of her body was inserted into what seemed like a kind of foliage, I do not know ...
