Sensorimotor and Microbiome-Brain Differences in Autism
Integrating data from multiple biological systems is essential for understanding complex developmental disorders like autism. This seminar will discuss integrating data from brain imaging and the gut microbiome to better understand the potential impact of interactions between these two systems in autism. Dr. Lisa Aziz-Zadeh is a Professor at the University of Southern California (USC) and Director of the Center for the Neuroscience of Embodied Cognition (CeNEC). For over two decades, her research has focused on understanding socio-emotional functioning in humans through a neuroscientific lens. Her translational work is primarily focused on autism spectrum disorder (ASD), specifically investigating the complex interplay between the brain, behavior, and the gut microbiome.
