Camino Frances Day 11 Tardajos to Castrojeriz
Camino Frances – Day 11 Tardajos – Casrojeriz – 30km A pleasant day today with some hills and only couple of severe downhills. We both feeling good and are managing our blisters as best we can. I don’t know why it has surprised me but we have seen 4 snakes so far, all of which have been causalities of traffic. Another great sunrise, some spectacular views along the way. A 9km walk to breakfast – most places don’t open until around 8:30-9:00am and with us getting up so early this seems to be suiting us fine. We walked with 3 Irish lads some of the way today. They were a good laugh and it was nice company. They had done this walk in stages before. Most of the time we are walking on our own. Every now and then folk walk with you for a bit have a chat and then carry off on their own. There are lots of people doing it on their own I take my hat off to them. Albergue Orion was clean and tidy and again we spoilt ourselves with a private room. The menu tonight was Korean consisting of miso soup, rice some sort of meat and veg topped off with a soft poached egg add some spice or soy sauce, mix together and “hey presto” you have a great meal. This was finished off with vienetta ice cream and of course wine. Good company again tonight with a couple of Americans and a Korean. Cold beer on tap and a perfect host called Brian. Brian himself was a pilgrim a few years back and meet this Korean lady. She came back to Spain and studied Spanish. After a couple of years she has the Albergue built and Brian gave up his life to come and live and work at the Albergue. They also have pilgrims working for them for a bed and meals. A good way to volunteer your time with food and a roof over your head and then move on when it suits you. Until tomorrow – Buen Camino – Jim and De
