VW Amarok CV repair/replacement - How to, tips & tricks

This is a step by step guide on how to replace a CV on a 2010-2022 Volkswagen Amarok. I've made sure to include as much information and up close footage as possible. A complete list of tools required is below. Additional Tips: 👉 Safety first: Check your jack stands and don't put your fingers anywhere you wouldn't put your 🍆 👉 Ensure that your vehicle has both front wheels off the ground as this will make your life substantially easier & safer. Without doing so you won't be able to turn the axle or change where the wheels are pointing to access to the inner CV Bolts 👉 Keep a trolley or bottle jack under the lower control arm, if you're struggling to do something, raising or lowering the arm will almost always help. Be cautious not to lift the whole vehicle off your jack stands with this method 👉 Loctite (blue) your outer and inner CV bolts. While you shouldn't re-use these bolts, new ones may not be an option in the bush. Be sure to clean them up if you're re-using them. 👉 Use degreaser and a hose to clean off any excess grease after you've completed the repair. Test drive and check all your work with a spanner, do this again after 100kms. 👉 Genuine Volkswagen CV's are substantially stronger than aftermarket options. If you're heading off-road even a used genuine will last longer than a cheap aftermarket CV.
