Santa Cristina - Suvivirsi (Jo joutui armas aika, virsi 571) | Metal Version

In Finland, Suvivirsi is more than a hymn. For many, it is the sound of the school year ending, summer beginning, and the doors opening toward light, lakes, forests, and freedom. Santa Cristina’s version reimagines Suvivirsi (Jo joutui armas aika) as a cinematic church-metal performance, combining reverence, heavy guitars, organ, bass, drums, and Finnish early-summer landscapes. This version follows the older Finnish hymn tradition as found in the 1921 second edition of Sotilaan virsikirja (The Finnish Soldier’s Hymnal). It is part of Santa Cristina’s album Sotilaan virsiä, which gathers some of the most memorable hymns and songs from the Finnish Soldier’s Hymnal and reimagines them in a heavy metal setting.
