On the final day of our long weekend (early November, 2024) in North Carolina, we went into Watauga lake where Vern would finally run his sonar boat along the peninsula where most of the debris from Elk Park had settled. The scene we saw at Watauga lake shocked both Jen and I, and made us both realize just how difficult this search for Kim Ashby would be. It also made us realize that this family, and every family who lost a loved one in the Hurricane Helene disaster, deserves every bit of help they can get to find their lost loved one and get answers.
