Instrumentation Amplifier using Transducer bridge(Derivation and Working)in English
Instrumentation amplifier with transducer bridge Contents: What is transducer Resistive transducer and its types Resistive transducers used in Transducer bridge IA Working of Transducer bridge IA Derivation of Bridge balance condition Derivation of output voltage Applications 1.What is Transducer? It is a device that converts one form of energy into another form. Electrical signals are converted to and from physical quantities like energy, force ,torque, light, motion, position, etc. Resistive Transducer: It is a device that is capable of measuring temperature, pressure, light, displacement, force ,vibration, etc. Types : Potentiometers Resistive position transducer Resistive pressure transducer Thermistors Strain gauges Light dependent Resistor (LDR) Resistive Transducers used in Instrumentation Amplifier: Thermistors Strain gauges Light dependent Resistor (LDR)/Photo conductive cell 1.Thermistors(Temperature dependent resistor) Its resistance decreases with increase in temperature. Temperature coefficient of resistance expressed in Ω/0C. It is used to maintain specific temperature and monitoring temperature within 500C ambient. 2.Light dependent Resistor/ Photo conductive cell/Photo resistor Its resistance decreases with increase in intensity of light. The resistance of LDR is high and thus little current can flow through it. It is used to indicate presence or absence of light , detect light levels and measure light intensity. 3.Strain Gauge It is a device whose resistance varies due to elongation or compression when external force is applied. Strain Gauge can be used to measure pressure, torque and displacement. Sensitivity →Unit change in resistance per unit change in length. Types→ Wire SG and semiconductor SG 1. Resistive transducer bridge It is a device whose resistance varies due to change in physical conditions like temperature, pressure and light intensity. . 2. Instrumentation amplifier For signal amplification and rejecting noise and interference. The transducer is used as one of the arm of resistive bridge and entire circuit with amplifier is called as transducer bridge instrumentation amplifier. Applications: As temperature indicator As temperature controller As light intensity meter As analog weighing scale
