The Government of Uganda has declared the last Saturday of every month a mandatory National Cleaning Day, requiring citizens to participate in community cleaning activities from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. For the Seventh-day Adventist Church, this announcement raises important questions because Adventists observe the biblical Sabbath during these hours. With approximately 613,000 baptized Adventists in Uganda, many members could be affected if the policy is implemented as announced. In response, the Uganda Union Mission of Seventh-day Adventists has released an official statement confirming that church leaders are engaging the government in respectful dialogue. The Church has expressed support for national sanitation efforts while affirming its commitment to the biblical Sabbath and freedom of worship.
