Unreal Engine 5.8 Direct Mesh Control (DMC) — Control Rig Setup
A preview of Direct Mesh Control (DMC), Unreal Engine 5.8's experimental plugin for rigging skeletal meshes by surface region instead of control picking. This is a basic example — every bone gets mapped 1:1 to its polygroup, no custom regions, no advanced wiring. Just the minimum setup to get DMC controls showing up in the viewport. Since DMC is still experimental in 5.8, expect the workflow and APIs to evolve before it leaves preview. More advanced setups coming in follow-up videos.
