Premier Harrier’s Meet at Thomastown, County Tipperary

Thomastown is a village between Cashel and Tipperary town. The day was windy with persistent rain. The meeting point was alongside the road through the village. There were 33 harrier hounds in the pack. The huntsman was Tom Shanahan, the Whipper-in Phil Breen and the Field Master Evan Morrissey. The Sir Rowland is the local Pub in Thomastown. Car and foot followers observing the event. Hounds chasing a fox by its scent trail. Hacking to a cover along a country road. The hounds are disciplined and well trained. The pack is made up of quality hounds that have a strong desire to hunt. The hounds have been bred to hunt foxes and have a good confirmation that leads to excellent pace and stamina, so the pack will drive on all day.
