Our journey begins with a scenic, vintage cable car ride from Flüelen up to the mountain hamlet of Oberaxen (approx. 1,000m). From there, it's a direct, uncompromising 1,100-vertical-meter ascent through blooming alpine meadows, past the charming Franzenalp restaurant, and up to a peak that stands completely isolated like a natural viewing platform. What makes Rophaien legendary is its position—it drops straight down into the turquoise waters of Lake Uri (Urnersee/Vierwaldstättersee). At the summit, you'll be greeted by its famous, massive 10-meter-high summit cross and a jaw-dropping 360° panorama stretching from the Reuss Valley all the way to the high peaks of the Uri Alps.
