Nandu arrives from Calcutta with his family and relatives to his parents’ home, joined soon by close friends. Among them is Shyamal “Shutu,” a soft-spoken and sensitive young man who often feels out of place. Though once a bright student, Shutu has recently faced academic disappointment and deeply misses his late father. He shares a close bond with young Tani, while most others tease or overlook him. As days pass, Shutu feels increasingly isolated and emotionally hurt by events around him. He develops feelings for Mimi, but realizes her attention lies elsewhere, adding to his sadness. When Tani briefly goes missing, Shutu blames himself and feels further ignored by the family. Deciding to leave, he prepares to return home, watching everyone else seem content without him. The story comes full circle to the opening moment, revealing the emotional weight of Shutu’s unseen struggles and their lasting impact.
