Baureihe 488 001 - die Panorama-S-Bahn von Berlin

Presented is the panoramic S-Bahn of Berlin, which was designated as series 488 001. As a donor vehicles for this 3-part unit, railcars of the series 477 (ex DR ET 167) from 1943 were used. The middle car is a sidecar of the class 877 (ex DR EB 167), which was rebuilt in 1958 by RAW Schöneweide (now S-Bahn main workshop) for lost in the 2nd World War II sidecar. Currently the train is not operational (as of 2018). When this train can be used again is questionable, because it was used in the conversion of the drive and control technology of 1943. The train is thus not compatible with the new electronic train control system ZBS, which will replace the old mechanical locking system until the end of 2025.
