Daothong had suffered a dislocated hip in an accident while hauling heavy logs, leaving her unable to work and in need of urgent care. When we first saw her, she could barely lift her legs to step onto the transportation truck. During the journey to Elephant Nature Park, we had to travel slowly and carefully to avoid worsening her condition or risking another injury. When Daothong arrived at her new home, we committed to giving her a life filled with care and dignity. No longer burdened by chains or forced labor, her legs were finally free from the weight of heavy loads. Most importantly, we knew she needed companionship—a friend who could help heal her heart and restore her spirit. Today, Daothong’s life is transformed. From an elephant who could barely walk, she now runs happily, surrounded by love. She receives care from both her human caregivers and her elephant friends.
