Fall Covered Bridge Painting | Step by Step Tutorial
One of my top fall requests has been a covered bridge! In this video I will walk you through my creative process from color blocking to detail✨🎨 Traceable available here: https://emilyseilhamer.com/covered-br... Supplies needed: 11x14 canvas board 🖌Brushes: Mop brush Size 8 flat Size 3 round Size 6 round Size 8 round Size 0 detail 8mm liner Artist sponges Size 4 fan 🎨Acrylic craft paint colors: White Light blue Dark yellow Yellow Dark red Red Purple Orange Dark brown Light brown Tan Dark green Navy blue This fall covered bridge painting has been an idea in my head for months so here we finally got the chance to put it on canvas. It has been a long time since I've done a more detailed painting so this is a great chance to also show you my creative process! Some helpful tips when painting from scratch: 1. Always try to do a quick sketch or 5 minute painting of the idea first. This will be the initial inspiration. It can also help to do a quick google search for ideas. 2. Bock in shapes and colors. This step is just for placement of things and to get a base layer of the main colors 3. Define details. Once the main subjects are blocked in start to add more defined details and textures. 4. Problem solve! Painting on the spot means you need to continue stepping away from your painting and solving "problem areas". It's ok to change your mind as you go! 5. Take your time. Many people these days want quick painting ideas that are over simplified and take under an hour....BUT the truth is detail takes time. If you see the difference between my 5 minute version and the final product its almost a completely different style. The more time you spend on a painting the better it will be. 6. Know when to stop...I could have kept going with this one. But another thing an artist should practice is knowing when it's time to stop. In fact, if you get frustrated, stop and come back to it with fresh eyes the next day. With acrylic craft paint you don't have to finish a painting in one session, it can take multiple! While the traceable is available so you don't have to design your version from scratch, my challenge for you all is to take "time". Try to push for more detail. It's good practice every so often to help you grow as an artist to see how far you can really go 🙂 #acrylicpainting #tutorials #fallvibes
