Bermondsey Wall, 1932
This silent film explores the work of the Time and Talents Association for young people in the London district of Bermondsey. The film depicts many London landmarks including Tower Bridge, The Prospect of Whitby, Wapping Old Stairs, The Town of Ramsgate, Cherry Garden Pier, Nightingale Lane, Oliver House and Bermondsey Wall. The film depicts the central marketplace in Bermondsey known as the 'The Blue' and shows the market area with stall holders and people shopping. The 'Playing Fields of Bermondsey' are also shown with children playing in the streets and boys playing football in the road amongst traffic. The film then explores Dockhead House which was opened by the Time and Talents Association in 1931. It includes footage of a dance class, library with children reading, classrooms with children painting, doll's house making, knitting, washing clothes and a church service. A Scouts camping scene is also depicted which shows children carrying water to make dinner, children playing cricket and children playing around a tepee. The film concludes with shipping on the River Thames.
