Today I experienced one of the most moving moments since arriving in Chile: the Chilean Army's Oath of Allegiance to the Flag. As a Cuban, I had never witnessed a ceremony where love for the homeland, history, freedom, and commitment to the country were expressed with such emotion. Seeing hundreds of young people ready to swear to give their lives for Chile made me appreciate even more the country that opened its doors to me and allowed me to live in freedom.
