Makam Ki Ageng Sutowijoyo Bumi Arum Majasto Sukoharjo

Kiai Ageng Sutawijaya was a descendant of the last king of Majapahit, Brawijaya V. When the Majapahit Empire collapsed, Sutawijaya left the palace and wandered, eventually settling in southern Sukoharjo. During his exile, Sutawijaya, originally named Raden Joko Bodho, met Sunan Kalijaga. After meeting Sunan Kalijaga, Joko Bodho acquired the title Ki Ageng Sutawijaya. Ki Ageng Sutawijaya was then ordered to study under Sunan Tembayat. Ki Ageng Sutawijaya headed to Majasto Hill and spread Islam there, following Sunan Kalijaga's instructions. Ki Ageng Sutawijaya lived on Majasto Hill until the end of his life and is buried there. The local community named Ki Ageng Sutawijaya's burial complex the Tomb of Arum Majasto. The name Bumi Arum Majasto itself is inseparable from a unique story that remains to this day. It is said that the soil on the hill of the Ki Ageng Sutawijaya Tomb Complex in Bumi Arum Majasto, Majasto Village, Tawangsari District, Sukoharjo, is said to smell fragrant, so that burials do not require digging too deep. In the past, bodies buried here were only knee-deep, and the soil smelled fragrant. This was known to Sunan Gunung Jati and Sultan Agung Hanyokrokusumo. Sunan Gunung Jati brought some of his land to Cirebon, thus establishing Bumi Sedap (Sweet Land). Likewise, Sultan Agung Hanyokrokusumo sent envoys to take soil from here to Imogiri, thus establishing Bumi Wangi (Wonderful Land). The address of Ki Ageng Majasto's tomb is on Majasto Hill, Majasto Village, Tawangsari District, Sukoharjo Regency. #makamwali #sukoharjo #religioustourism
