This Nikon does not have the sensor fitted on springs, so we will not need a gauge with a stand to properly level the sensor. We will only need a caliper to make sure the washers we discard are the same thickness. If someone would use this camera for astro photography, we need to make sure the focusing in the picture corners is correct. For the purpose of making it full spectrum, we will remove a filter from the sensor. When we do that, the focusing will change ever so slightly. The camera most likely will not focus on distant objects. To fix that, we will discard the sensor washers. This will shift the sensor a tiny bit forward, which is what we need. If you do not have even a caliper, just discard the washers and assemble the camera. Most of the time, those washers are equal in size. Make sure there is no battery and no memory card in the camera. Unscrew all exterior screws. There will be two screws hidden in the battery compartment. We will need to separate the grip rubber and unscrew the screws under it. Carefully separate the back panel, disconnect its ribbon cable, and remove it from the camera. Disconnect all the cables from the main board. Unscrew the main board screws and take it out. Take out the metal plate. Remove the metal frame. There will be a few screws to unscrew. Unscrew the sensor screws and take out the sensor. Desolder the ultrasonic resonator cable from the sensor. This cable can also simply be cut. Return the sensor to the camera. After assembly, the camera should work straight away. If something is not working or an error is shown, most likely a ribbon cable is not connected properly.
