[한국사] 1960년, 남한보다 2배 잘 살았던 북한은 왜 몰락해버렸을까?
At 9:00 PM on May 14, 1948, the entire Republic of Korea was plunged into darkness. North Korea unilaterally cut off the electricity supplying the South. On that day, we had to rely on a single candlelight, while North Korea boasted of its brightly lit factories. It may be hard to believe, but until the early 1960s, North Korea's per capita national income was two to three times that of South Korea. But what about now? The situation has completely reversed. In this video, we trace why the industrial infrastructure left behind by Imperial Japan became concentrated in North Korea, why the results of the 'Chollima Movement' and the 'Saemaul Movement' diverged so drastically, and what single choice separated the destinies of two nations that both started from the ruins. At the very moment Pohang Iron and Steel Company's first blast furnace was lighting its fire, the Juche Tower was rising in Pyongyang. The same time, completely different choices. We are living out the consequences of those choices today. 📚 References National Archives of Korea https://archives.go.kr Bank of Korea Economic Statistics System https://ecos.bok.or.kr Statistics Korea North Korea Statistics https://kosis.kr National Institute of Korean History Database https://db.history.go.kr POSCO Museum of History https://www.posco.co.kr 💬 Share Your Stories What do you think was the biggest cause of this reversal?
