Big Boy at Horseshoe Curve - 7/11/2026

I am incredibly lucky to have witnessed this historic event in railroading. The largest steam locomotive in the world, UP #4014, traversed the Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, PA on July 11, 2026. This is something I personally never thought would happen, and the fact that it has is simply insane. That's really all I can say. Big props to the Railroader's Museum of Pennsylvania, Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, the City of Altoona, and everyone else involved in making this event as well-organized and smoothly run as possible. Hopefully we'll see more mainline steam operations like this in the future. I hope you enjoy this video capturing the Big Boy's visit to the Curve.
