Station 3 "El Parrón" of the La Mejicana Mine Cable Car, in Chilecito (La Rioja, Argentina), is part of one of the most impressive engineering feats in the world from the early 20th century. Built to transport gold, silver, and other minerals from Cerro Famatina, this system connected nine stations along more than 35 kilometers of mountain terrain. On this motorcycle trip, I reached El Parrón, located at almost 2,000 meters above sea level, to discover a little-known part of Argentine history. I provide two useful locations: the turnoff to Station 3 (secondary road) with coordinates and a link to Google Maps. Coordinates (copy and paste into Google Maps): -29.101002, -67.61125. Abraham offers very good homemade food and drinks. More than a motorcycle trip, it's a way to get closer to places where you can still touch the past, like the first telephone booth. The entire route is accessible by 4x2 vehicle. Just check the water level of the Rio del Oro, depending on the time of year. The motorcycle is a tool. The journeys are evidence.
