Griechenlands Geographie ist völlig absurd!

Why is 95% of Greece empty? Greece is one of the most unequal countries in Europe. Around 3.8 million people live in the greater Athens area alone. And that's with a total population of only about 10.4 million. This means that one in three Greeks lives in this single city. For comparison: If Berlin were to grow according to this pattern, it would have to be home to almost 28 million people. An almost unimaginable number. But what's truly bizarre is the history. After all, Greece is the country that invented the city in the truest sense. The word "polis" comes from here. In antiquity, hundreds of independent city-states existed on the Greek mainland and islands: Athens, Sparta, Corinth, Thebes, Miletus, each with its own administration, its own coinage, and its own armies. Yet, from this extremely decentralized cultural space, one of the most centralized countries in Europe has emerged. But why? Why does a country with over 6,000 islands and one of the longest coastlines in Europe have only a single major city? What role do geography and history play in this? How did Athens transform from a village with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants into this megacity in just 200 years? And can this extreme concentration of population even change in the future? We'll explore all these fascinating questions in today's video. Enjoy! Business Email: [email protected]
