Fly Fishing Aurora Reservoir: Bass and Cutthroat Trout

Beautiful spring day on Aurora Reservoir! I'm anticipating going up to the Park County lakes to chase down monster reservoir trout, and use Aurora Reservoir as a training grounds for that situation. On this day it started out slow, many anglers fishing bait on the pier so I walked around and found a curious large mouth that set the tone for the rest of the day. On the pier there was a minimum of 10 rods fishing bait the whole time I was there, and very few fish to show for it. Nymphing produced more fish from me alone than the rest of the anglers combined, the strategy does not alert the fish and triggers bites from the pickiest and rarest fish available! I hope this inspires you to try out your pressured reservoir in your area on the fly so you can catch quality, educated fish!
