How to Solve: Short Circuit Test Synchronous Generator or Motor (Electrical Power PE Exam)
In this video, I'll teach you how to solve for the synchronous reactance (X) and terminal voltage (E) of a synchronous generator using the results of a short circuit test. Practice problem in the video: During an open circuit test, the line voltage of a synchronous generator reaches rated line voltage of 13.8kV when the excitation current reaches 75 amps. During the short circuit test, the stator current is measured to be 700 amps. Determine the synchronous reactance per phase, and the terminal voltage if three 25 ohm resistors are wye connected as a load. Hint: Xs = Eo/Isc Select the Correct Answer: A) 11.4 Ohms per phase, 12.6kV B) 12.5 Ohms per phase, 13.8kV C)14 Ohms per phase, 18kV D)10.2 Ohms per phase, 11.5 kV The answer is A) 11.4 Ohms per phase, 12.6kV Can you solve it? __________________________________ **** PE EXAM *** 🔥 SUBSCRIBE for more videos on how to pass the NCEES® Electrical Power PE Exam! / @electricalpereview . 🚀 Ready to PASS the NCEES® Electrical Power PE Exam?
