Nobody’s Talking About This SIG The Right Way

SIG sent me three pistols from the new P211 line: The GT5. The GT4. And the GTO. Their question was simple: Which one do I like best? And by the end of this review, I had an answer — but it was not the one I expected when I started. Right now, the gun industry is flooded with 2011-style pistols. New ones drop constantly, and as much as I love them, a lot of them start to feel like different versions of the same recipe. The SIG P211 line feels different. It has some 1911 DNA. Some 2011 DNA. A little P320 DNA with the magazines. And then that old-school SIG mechanical feel — the kind of presence you remember from guns like the P226 and P229. These three pistols don’t feel like three copies of the same gun. They feel like a bloodline. The GT5 is the grandfather — heavy, mechanical, and full of life when you shoot it. The GT4 is the grandson — smaller, faster, snappier, and incredibly balanced. The GTO is the father in his prime — dialed in, confident, and the one I kept wanting to pick up again. The GT5 shoots great. The GT4 surprised me. But the GTO is the one that won me over. The 3D-printed comp makes the gun shoot flat, recoil comes straight back, and it gives me the mass of the GT5 with the athletic feel of the GT4. Best looking. Best shooting. Best overall to me.
