This article provides a detailed video review: user experience, pros, cons, and comparison with the MacBook Air M1. *Configuration and price* M4 chip (10 CPUs + 10 GPUs), 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD. Bought used for 38,000 rubles—half the price of a new Air. The most powerful, compact, and affordable Mac I've ever owned. *Casing and Accessories* Small, lightweight case, the size of a PC power supply. A braided power cable is included. It takes up minimal desk space and fits easily into my setup. *Ports — The Key Advantage* After the Air M1 with 2 USB-C ports, this is a breath of fresh air: HDMI, Ethernet, 3.5mm jack Multiple USB-C ports (front and rear) Connect a monitor, speakers, SSD, keyboard, and charge your phone—no hubs required. A programmable USB-C keyboard adds hotkeys. *Storage* 256GB isn't enough for video. Options: 1. A Chinese 1-2 TB SSD module inside (disassembly, flashing, risky) 2. An external 1 TB SSD – slower in tests, but no difference in performance. Can be taken with a laptop. *Cooling and Noise* The active fan spins quietly all the time. When rendering video, it's noisy, and the case gets warm (air from the back is hot). Stable operation without throttling. Question: How is the M4 in the slim Air? *Home Reliability* Difficult to spill or damage: the board is on top, sits on a table. Ideal for a family with children and drinks. Used storage isn't a concern – less risk than with a laptop. *Improved Sound* The speaker is good for TV series (like in a smartphone). Better than the old Mini speakers, but for work, external speakers are better. *Mac mini M4 vs. Air M1* *The Mini wins:* ports, cooling, stability under load, power (rendering is faster). *The Air is better:* portability, display, battery life. The M4 is ~2x more powerful than the M1, but for light workloads the difference isn't critical. *Conclusions* *Who should buy it:* home setup, lots of peripherals, rendering/editing. *Don't buy it:* if you need portability. Used for 38k is a great deal. The Chinese version is fine. An external SSD solves the memory issue. I'm selling it (I already did) – but I'd buy it again!
