What Lies Beneath: The Giant Foundations Powering Port Talbot’s Green Steel Future
Port Talbot Steelworks has begun installing the deep foundations for its new low‑carbon steelmaking facilities. Senior Quality Manager Kath Sanders from Sir Robert McAlpine explains how more than 1,000 concrete piles — some up to 25 metres deep — will support the fume extraction plant, Consteel conveyor and electric arc furnace. This is the moment the £1.25bn transformation moves from preparation to construction.
