My NEW Micro Layout Begins! – Planning & Baseboard Construction | Bob’s Biscuits Ep. 1
In today’s video I’m kicking off a brand new 00 gauge micro layout build, sharing my full planning process, inspiration, AnyRail experiments, and building the multi-level baseboard that will support the entire project. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — 📱 Social Media Facebook: / fishplatesandscratchbuilds Instagram: / fishplatesandscratchbuilds — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — 🎵 Content Credits Music by Pumpupthemind: https://linktr.ee/Pumpupthemind End Card music “Werq” by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — 🔍 Full Description I’m finally starting the build of my brand new 00 gauge micro layout, and in this first episode I’m taking you right from the earliest ideas all the way through to constructing the finished baseboard. This layout is something I’ve wanted to tackle for a while: a compact, multi-level scene with layered track, a canalside industrial setting, and operations that are interesting without needing a traditional fiddle yard. In this video I walk through my full thought process — the inspiration from exhibition layouts, why I wanted something small but operationally rich, and the challenge of designing a 00 gauge micro layout that doesn’t feel cramped. I show the many AnyRail track plans I experimented with, including how I ended up using a wagon turntable rather than a diamond crossing and why I settled on a board size of 60cm x 100cm. I also build the entire baseboard from scratch, including the stepped lower canal section, angled front edge, batten supports, V-cut cable channels, and all the structural choices that make this layout work. If you’re planning your own small layout, micro layout, industrial scene, or anything similar in 00 or HO, I hope seeing the mistakes, revisions, compromises and decisions in this build helps you with your own modelling. This project will become a full series where I take the layout from this blank board all the way to a finished, fully scenic, fully operating layout. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — 🗝️ Keywords: 00 gauge micro layout, 00 gauge layout build, model railway baseboard build, AnyRail track planning, 00 gauge track plan, small model railway layout, compact layout ideas, model railway construction, multi-level layout, industrial model railway, 00 gauge operations, wagon turntable, shunting operations, micro layout planning, railway modelling UK, British model railway, scratchbuilding, layout building tips, baseboard tutorial, model railway inspiration, 00 gauge beginner guide, railway modelling how-to, model railway scenic ideas, UK model railway YouTube, layout build series.
