This week, France recorded the hottest temperature in its entire history, forty-four point three degrees Celsius, and it happened in June, weeks before summer has even reached its peak. From Spain to Italy to the United Kingdom, more than one hundred million Europeans endured a single day above thirty-five degrees as the World Health Organization declared a health emergency and the death toll began to climb. On the other side of the Atlantic, a dome of heat is building over roughly one hundred and seventy million Americans heading into the Fourth of July. But the temperatures making the headlines are hiding the real danger. There is another number, the wet-bulb temperature, that marks the exact point at which the human body can no longer keep itself alive, and scientists have just discovered that this lethal line sits lower, and closer to us, than they believed for a century. So if the records are already falling this hard, this early, and the true limit of human survival is nearer than we thought, how much room is actually left before parts of the world cross a line from which, for hours at a time, there is no escape? 🔔 Subscribe to The Sky Lab for space weather, solar activity, and the stories behind the storms. 💬 Drop a comment — where are you watching from, and has this heat reached your corner of the world yet? 📢 Share this video to help us grow this community. — ⚠️ DISCLAIMER: This video is for educational and informational purposes.
