The Declaration of Arbroath
The Declaration of Arbroath dated April 6th 1320 was Scotland's appeal to the Pope that Scotland should be an independent nation, free from English rule. Probably written by Bernard Linton, Abbot of Arbroath Abbey, the single surviving copy is sealed by 51 Scottish nobles and magnates. The date of the declaration is celebrated in the USA as Tartan Day and the document was used as the basis for the American Declaration of Independence. The film features Jock Ferguson of Herald Events as the Bruce and was filmed and edited by Colin Maxwell.
