During the New Order era, this quiet, foggy, and steep forest area served as one of the dumping grounds for victims of the Mysterious Shootings (Petrus) in the 1980s. This dark history reinforces the haunted image in the eyes of the public to this day. Locals have a myth prohibiting traveling this path alone after sunset or before midnight.
