Modern Skirt Pattern Drafting Applied To Vintage Sewing

It's time to pattern draft a modern skirt sloper/pattern and apply it to vintage sewing patterns. Before I cut into any more fabric, my skirt sloper needs to be redone. I've lost weight and the old skirt sloper was my first sloper. It wasn't the best, and I can now do better. Considering the amount of work drafting sewing patterns is, I better have a perfect sloper. I've already tested it out and YES this is perfectly fine to use as your foundation piece for Haslam Dress Designs. My next few videos will be showing how this skirt sloper can be used across the decades. The end part addresses the change of waist to high hip to low hip standard industry measurements and how the average height changes through the decades will affect your sewing. This is probably the most interesting and useful part of the video. I do a direct look at this measurement change in patterns from the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s and talk about how this measurement applies to today's actual short/average/tall heights. - /// Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook /// https://linktr.ee/TheNoraShow /// Binge Me ///    • THE Binge List - Buckle Up.  It’s a lot.   ---- I am a vintage seamstress with great love of the 1920s through the early 1960s. I want a vintage wardrobe that FITS ME. I want this because I am utterly uninspired by today’s fashion. I am completely “meh” about it. I want to look in a mirror and say “yassssss”. Since nothing bad has happened at all since I starting wearing what I actually like, I figured why stop? Maybe I really can simply dress for me and that I can absolutely - on a daily basis - wear what I sew compete with wet set pin curls, aprons, lipstick, and sometimes a corset – For No Other Reason than I want to. Wear what you like and be true to you. Wear What Inspires you. I am delighted to live in a time period where history bounding is a thing and that having a niche dress and personal style all your own is not only accepted, but seems to be encouraged. I focus on accurate and appropriate to the era vintage clothing creation. I am not a huge fan of commercial patterns, so I draft my own sewing patterns based my own personal measurements. The Haslam dress cutting system that came out of Great Britain between 1920 and 1960 has opened up an entire world of sewing that I am finding to be easier and faster than using a mass produced pattern. /// FTC Legal Disclaimer /// - As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. - Some links found in the description box of my videos may be affiliate links.
