Crossing Dochu La Pass_Journey to Punakha

Our Bhutan adventure continues as we leave the peaceful capital of Thimphu and journey towards the historic valley of Punakha. Along the way, we cross the breathtaking Dochu La Pass and visit the beautiful Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, experiencing some of the most spectacular Himalayan landscapes Bhutan has to offer. 🇧🇹🏔️✨ Our BHUTAN TOUR takes us on one of the country's most scenic road journeys—from Thimphu to Punakha. This route winds through dense pine forests, misty mountain roads, and panoramic Himalayan viewpoints, making the drive itself a major highlight of the trip. Day 4 – Chapter 1: We began our journey from Thimphu towards Punakha, driving through the picturesque Himalayan countryside. As the road climbed higher into the mountains, every turn revealed breathtaking landscapes, lush forests, and colorful prayer flags fluttering in the crisp mountain breeze. 🚗🌲🏔️✨ Our first major stop was the iconic Dochu La Pass, situated at an altitude of over 3,100 metres (10,200 feet). Famous for its 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens (stupas), the pass is one of Bhutan's most sacred and scenic destinations. On a clear day, it offers magnificent panoramic views of the snow-capped Eastern Himalayas, creating one of the most unforgettable sights of the journey. 🌄🙏✨ We also visited the beautiful Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, a uniquely designed temple built to honour Bhutan's Fourth King and the country's armed forces. Surrounded by towering mountains and peaceful surroundings, the temple beautifully blends Bhutanese architecture with intricate artwork, making it a place of both spiritual significance and architectural beauty. 🛕🇧🇹✨ After spending time at these remarkable landmarks, we continued our scenic drive towards Punakha, enjoying the ever-changing Himalayan landscapes that make Bhutan one of the world's most beautiful destinations.
