Driver Simit takes us on a coal journey through the mining area. We start at the 60 m level at the Niederaußem base with an EL 2000 locomotive (built in 1999). We experience a slight delay right after the start of the journey due to construction work. After an hour's journey on the north-south line, we reach the loading station of the Garzweiler open-cast mine, where the 14 wagons of our train are loaded with a total of 1,400 tons of coal. Then we head to the Neurath power plant, where we unload the coal. During the ride, we'll explain in our TOP 5 "Crazy Facts about the Grubenland Railway" section what makes RWE's factory railway, located just outside Cologne, so unique in the German railway landscape. ____ 00:00 - Intro 01:02 - Our Train Driver 01:26 - Our Mission 01:54 - The Journey Begins 02:03 - TOP 5: Seat No. 5 - The Reason for the Three Driver's Cabs 03:15 - Seat No. 4 - The Double Signals 04:12 - Seat No. 3 - Three Driver's Cabs for One Locomotive? 05:29 - Seat No. 2 - Ghost Trains in the Grubenland?! 06:13 - Seat No. 1 - Coal Trains Extra Wide and Extra Heavy?! 07:36 - Coal Unloading at the Neurath Power Plant 08:07 - Recap 08:42 - Oh NO!
