DIVIDE AND DISSOLVE in this show are: Takiya Reed (guitar & soprano sax) Scarlett Shred (drums) DIVIDE AND DISSOLVE is a doom and drone metal project led by composer, guitarist, and saxophonist Takiya Reed, a musician of Cherokee and African American heritage. Formed in Melbourne, the project originally began as a duo with drummer SYLVIE NEHILL, who is of Māori descent. Combining massive distorted guitars, saxophone, and powerful percussion, THE BAND creates heavy, immersive instrumental soundscapes that blend doom, drone, and experimental music. Their work often explores themes of Indigenous sovereignty, decolonization, and resistance, using sound as a form of political and emotional expression. Following Nehill’s departure, the project evolved into a primarily solo project led by Reed, who continues to collaborate with different musicians for recordings and live performances.
