There would be no contaminates in the humidity itself and our process will further purify the water; this is called the “Self Reliant Water Supply”. Almost anyone can build his or her very own in just a short amount of time and at very minimal cost. By using the “Self Reliant Water Supply” in our home, we can circumvent the risks associated with the public water infrastructure and the potential harm that may arise from it. Disease, contamination, effects of natural disaster, etc… all of these unfortunate circumstances can be avoided. At the core of the “Self Reliant Water Supply” is a dehumidifier, which allows us to pull water straight out of the humidity in the air. Water is then collected into a capture basin, transferred through a purifier and then re-mineralized. Depending on the humidity levels where you live, the “Self Reliant Water Supply” has the potential to produce large amounts of water. This can be beneficial if your main drinking water source becomes contaminated or in the event of natural disasters. SAFETY You cannot assume that water produced by a dehumidifier alone will be pure. The water is collected (or condensed) over coils in the dehumidifier. The actual condensation drips off of these coils to produce water. These coils are usually made of aluminum, copper or other metallic construction. When metallic sources are introduced into any water supply system, the threat of potential harm increases. Fortunately, we can eliminate these risks. There are just a couple of steps we must take for our water to become some of the best tasting and safest drinking water available. We MUST purify the water before it can be drinkable. Purifying our condensed water through a high quality purifier does this. Furthermore, after purifying our water, it has become essentially distilled water. Now, drinking distilled water in a survival situation is acceptable. What we want to accomplish though, is water that is not only pure, but good for us as well. If a person were to drink just distilled water, over time this water could potentially “leach” valuable minerals out of our body. We need these minerals to sustain our health, so it would be best to add them back in. After the purifying process is complete, we will add one half (1/2) teaspoon of crushed Himalayan Salt to each gallon of water we produce. This action will “remineralize” the purified water we have produced. This particular salt enriches the water with 84 minerals our bodies need to remain healthy and hydrated. This salt is also what gives the water that very smooth taste.
