The female investigator was promoted and went to work for the regional police department, but the detective from the Avtozavodsky department continued to harass her and began filing complaints against her to management. She was forced to resign from the police force, and then he did too. It eventually escalated to a robbery: he beat her in the entryway and stole her bracelet. This went on for years. The victim filed 54 complaints against him, but the police responded to none of them adequately—they refused to open a criminal case. Out of desperation, the victim decided to go public with the incident, releasing a video. After our report, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, drew attention to the situation. He ordered a criminal case opened. Former detective Roman Lonskov went on the run, but he was placed on the federal wanted list and detained. The trial has been ongoing for a year.
