Michi Village || Documentary Film || Apatani || Apatani Village

The purpose of making a visual documentary on “MICHI” was to provide live information to the younger generation about the old aged traditional and cultural heritage of village life as presently we are going under the transition period. We know our children are coming far from old traditional system to modernity, even fail to speak own mother tongue. Hence, as a part of preservation on the traditional system a live documentary has made as an asset for future reference. Production of documentary was begin during the celebration of silver jubilee celebrations of MICHI WELFARE SOCIETY ITANAGAR, 2017 meetings and research works done by the elders of MWSI by visiting Michi village, interaction with elders, visiting the mythological sites, extensive tour to spiritual and prominent places (Khalos) like Dolo-Mando, the sister hills and others places. To head the production works, the responsibilities was given to Shri Dulley Tamang and Shri Taniyang Tatung and the research works was done under the leadership of Shri Michi Bida (Dulley) alongwith other elders like -Michi Tari, Michi Challo, Michi Chatung Tanyang, Dusu Rajen Michi, Michi Chobin (Dulley), Michi Chada Tamang, Tanyang Tallo and Michi Tadu. Writing and Scripting of the documentary was taken up by Shri Dulley Tamang, who covered whole production works and directed the documentary film. Camera works were done by Shri Solomon Sangchoju as Director of Photography, Edited by Dulley Tamang and Solomon Sangchoju, background score by K for Kekho. Efforts was to give pure Apatani version and language in the documentary film but still some modern words comes. It was really an exhaustive and rigorous task to complete the film as every thing has to be covered so that every record is captured for future reference, and hence the documentary film became quite lengthy-rose to one and half hours. The production was of course done on “Michi” village but the history about the migration, traditional things like La’pañ, Babo, Nago were gives a significant related to entire Apatani.
