Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening is a prequel set when Dante is 17 or 18, focusing on the conflict between him and his twin brother Vergil, both sons of the legendary demon Sparda. Vergil seeks to unlock the power of the Temen-ni-gru tower to open a gateway to the demon world, manipulated by the sorcerer Arkham (disguised as the Jester). The story follows Dante as he ascends the tower, battling demons and crossing paths with Lady, who seeks revenge against her father, Arkham. The narrative culminates in a series of duels where Vergil betrays Arkham, only for Arkham to betray Vergil using Lady’s blood to complete the ritual.
