Palermo in 24 ore: Cosa Dovete Fare!
Palermo in 24 hours: what to do! Let's dive into discovering what to see in Palermo, uncovering all the most beautiful gems this city has to offer in 24 hours! 00:00 Visiting Palermo, let's begin: the 4 canti 00:35 The Cathedral of Palermo and its roofs 02:29 Food shops: Sicilian pistachio 03:22 Street Food: Arancina 04:26 Things to do: Puppet Show 05:01 Things to see: Fountain of Shame and the Kalsa district 06:58 Dinner: Salumaio di Santamarina 07:51 WOW Experience 08:56 Things to see: The giant fig, symbol of Palermo 09:41 Street Food: Spleen Sandwich 11:16 Street Food: Triple Sandwich 12:28 Things to see: Ballarò Market 13:10 Street Food: Le Sticchiole 13:48 Things to see: The Crypt of the Capuchins 16:01 Street Food: Granita 16:25 Street Food: Il Cannolo Believe me, this 24-Hour Palermo Itinerary is amazing. QUATTRO CANTI This octagonal square is a masterpiece of Sicilian Baroque and is the heart of Palermo's main streets, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Via Maqueda. The square was built in the 17th century and represents the union of Palermo's four historic neighborhoods: Kalsa, Albergheria, Monte di Pietà, and Il Capo. PALERMO CATHEDRAL This imposing structure is a mix of architectural styles, from Romanesque to Gothic. The cathedral was built in the 12th century. There are several routes you can follow, and the maximum cost for a complete visit is €12. We recommend at least one visit to the Tetti. ARTISAN FOOD SHOPS Be sure to pop into the various shops you find along the street and stop to taste the unique specialties of this region. I definitely recommend taking home a nice pistachio cream; we liked the plain one better! FOOD: ArancinA Trying the ArancinA is a must, as it's a city institution. We tried it at KePalle d'autore (Google rating 4.4/5). AMAZING!!! We opted for the classic one, but there are several flavors to choose from. FOUNTAIN OF SHAME Definitely worth a visit, especially since it's located in the Kalsa neighborhood, one of the most historic and beautiful neighborhoods to visit. Its history is fascinating, and the reason it's called "Fountain of Shame" is clear. FOOD: Dinner: Salumaio di Santamarina An exceptional place if you want slightly more sophisticated cuisine with authentic and traditional flavors, just the right break from street food! The food was excellent, with generous portions, a very refined interior (you'll be eating in a "cave"), and truly attentive and friendly service! It's not the cheapest, but it's worth it! (Google rating 4.3/5) FOOD breakfast. Given our limited time, our breakfast was different than usual, and we hit the best spots to continue our street food. We started with a delicious SPLEEN SANDWICH at Porta Carbone at 10:00 AM XD. Excellent sandwich, incredible flavor, and don't worry, it's not strong. A must-try, even for those who aren't very familiar with offal. XD (Google rating 4.5/5) TRIPLE SANDWICH at Nni Franco U' Vastiddaru. Made up of: Bread, Panelle, Crocchè, and Eggplant. It sounds like lead, but it's actually incredibly creamy and all the ingredients blend together beautifully. Highly recommended. (Google rating 4.1/5) BALLARO MARKET It's definitely worth a visit. It's a very touristy place, with a variety of characters that make it a quaint, light-hearted, and engaging place. Here you can eat whatever you want; there's everything. We tried the Sticchiole, but maybe you need a little more stomach for these. They're rolled innards, grilled, and seasoned with salt and lemon! CRYPT OF THE CAPUCHINS A macabre yet fascinating place. If you're not disgusted by mummies, you'll see the largest collection ever here, but more importantly, you'll be walking within 10 centimeters of them. A different experience that's definitely worth trying! FOOD, DULCIS IN FONDO We were about to leave, but we had to find time to try the last two things: GRANITA at the café on the main street, homemade in the most classic flavors. A real treat, especially when it's 35 degrees Celsius, even in October XD (Google rating 4.4/5) CANNOLI, well, I have to tell you something unique, amazing to savor with every bite. We tried the one from CANNOLISSIMO, which offers both the classic and various fillings. Of course, everything was assembled fresh! (Google rating 4.5/5) We arrived on a Ryanair flight from Pisa, costing about 100 euros. For ACCOMMODATION, we booked a B&B on Booking.com: Cuore di Palermo, rated 8.1. New building, right in the center, huge rooms! Recommended. ABSOLUTELY GO TO PALERMO and trust me, even 24 hours a day will give you fantastic experiences.
