The Winter of '68 - Goodnight, Texas (Official Video)

The latest single off the upcoming album Wooden Machine - out 9/16/26 Video by the incredible Sound and Vision Co., https://soundandvisionco.com/ (who also did our Hypothermic video!) "With the fires in LA last year, a bin of 1950s reel to reel audio tapes at my mother's house in Pasadena came to mind. They were of my late father and his cousins doing various skits, both comedic and dramatic. I had been working on a prequel to our song Hypothermic - a backstory raising the theory that before the character fled to Alaska by frozen highway he was escaping accusations of being the Zodiac Killer. Fortunately, my Mom and her house in Pasadena were spared from the fires, but it raised fears of loss of old treasures in those unopened bins. Later that spring, I gathered the ones containing my father's tapes and took them up to my home in the Bay Area to have them transferred and digitized. My vocals to the song were already recorded when I listened to the playback of a tape of my father's nearly-70-year-old Newscaster skit essentially acting out my song. He had passed away when I was 3 and has been a tragic and loving, albeit mysterious and fascinating character in my life that I barely knew. Just then I heard what I still cannot believe: for the fictional character he addresses in the skit he chose the name "John Farquhar". Fans of our band will know that that is also the titular character and name of our band's 2nd album (which was released 27 years after my father's death, and is named for my bandmate Patrick's great great great grand uncle). We edited my father's narration into the song, and 39 years after his passing, I am finally able to collaborate on a skit with my own dad. You can hear the 'John Farquhar' reference aforementioned before the first verse.
