The historic "Gateway to the West", or more commonly known as the "Narrows", lies strategically west of Cumberland, Maryland and is an impressive sight with cliffs that tower 1,000+ ft in the sky. Home to not only a smattering of businesses, the Narrows also plays host to CSX's Pittsburgh Division and the National Road, however, the real show next to nature is certainly the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
