This video shows how home baristas can find the right grind setting for espresso using a portafilter machine. The grinder shown here is an EUREKA Silencio. The following rule generally applies to grind setting: COARSE grind is perfect for French press. Guideline: coarse-grained, similar to sea salt. MEDIUM grind: correct for filter coffee. Guideline: similar to typical table salt. FINE grind: ideal for espresso. Guideline: the grain should be as fine as desert sand. *FINEST grind: ground for Turkish coffee. Guideline: consistency of the finest powder or icing sugar.
