IBSF World Cup St. Moritz - 2-Women Bobsleigh - Heat 1

Three weeks after Switzerland’s Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz-Celerina sliding track opened for the season, the only natural sliding track left on the World Cup tour is set to host races in all six disciplines that will appear at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina. At around 120 years old and 1,722 metres long, the traditional track located in Switzerland’s Engadin region is both the oldest and longest World Cup track. The sliding track features 19 corners between the starting line in St. Moritz (1,852 metres above sea level) and the finish line in Celerina (1,738 metres). Made exclusively from snow and ice, the track is not artificially cooled and is built from scratch every year by 15 track workers from South Tirol over a period of about three weeks. St. Moritz is regarded as the birthplace of bobsleigh and skeleton and hosted the 1928 and 1948 Winter Olympic Games. Thank you for watching! Die traditionsreiche Strecke im Schweizer Engadin ist mit rund 120 Jahren die älteste und mit 1.722 Metern Wettkampflänge auch längste Weltcup-Bahn. Der Eiskanal mit 19 Kurven zwischen dem Start in St. Moritz auf 1.852 Metern Höhe bis zum Ziel in Celerina (1.738 Meter) besteht rein aus Schnee und Eis, hat keine künstliche Kühlung und wird jedes Jahr in ca. drei Wochen von 15 Bahnarbeitern aus Südtirol von Grund auf neu aufgebaut. St. Moritz gilt als Geburtsort des Bob- und Skeleton-Sports und war Austragungsort der Olympischen Winterspiele 1928 und 1948.
