Consumer Health at Top End 'Excellent,' Says Morgan Stanley's Ted Pick (FULL)
Morgan Stanley Chief Executive Officer Ted Pick discusses the current dealmaking environment with Bloomberg on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Morgan Stanley Chief Executive Officer Ted Pick said the dealmaking environment is thriving as companies are in “excellent” health. “I’m pretty amped up,” Pick said in an interview Wednesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The noise in the environment “speaks to a C-suite need to act.” Pick, who took over as CEO of New York-based Morgan Stanley in early 2024, has been leading the bank through a busy time, with the firm posting record net income last year. The bank has been boosted by its debt-underwriting business, which helped fuel a 47% gain in the firm’s investment-banking fees in the fourth quarter. “Corporate health is excellent,” Pick said. “Consumer health at the top end is excellent.” Morgan Stanley has been playing a major role helping put together financing structures for the artificial-intelligence buildout. The bank arranged more than $27 billion for Meta Platforms Inc.’s Hyperion data center in Louisiana. SpaceX is moving ahead with plans for an IPO that would raise significantly more than $30 billion, Bloomberg News reported in December. Pick cautioned that major closely held technology companies are in no rush to go public, but said many of the biggest names are helping to draw interest to similarly situated companies.
