AVIATION ENGLISH TEST - Radio communication evaluation for French-speaking pilots 👨🏼‍✈️🇫🇷✈️

Here is an example of an initial test before starting a course in Aviation English at FCL ANGLAIS: 00:00 Introduction 00:50 Test layout 01:55 TEST START 03:25 QUESTIONS ABOUT AVIATION 08:00 PICTURE DESCRIPTION 09:38 UNUSUAL SITUATIONS 12:22 Simulated flight preparation 15:37 SIMULATED FLIGHT (1) 18:44 Complementary instructions in French 19:31 SIMULATED FLIGHT (2) 20:59 Short debriefing 21:56 Comments, follow-up, epilogue The initial evaluation in Aviation French is almost the same because the DGAC's FCL .055 does not include any image description, but in any case each evaluation has to be adapted to each pilot or student pilot. There are even air traffic controllers and airworthiness operators. Obviously, not everyone can do the same type of test in these conditions. Some pilots are looking for ICAO level 6 to change their career path. Others are simply content with ICAO level 4, which is often the case for VFR pilots. In any case, an ICAO level 5 is always beneficial, as flight safety is enhanced by clearer, more precise and safer radio communications. ICAO level 5 is also valid for longer than ICAO level 4. Collin Smith - the airline pilot speaking in this video - flies Boeing 757s and 767s. He has also been teaching Aviation English to pilots for many years, as you can see on his EASY AVIATION ENGLISH website and YouTube channel: https://easyaviationenglish.com and    / @easyaviationenglish   . We'd been chatting about international radiotelephony for some time now. Collin had the brilliant idea of taking the selection and formative assessment test that I give to student pilots. This is the test used at https://www.fclanglais.fr and MERMOZ ACADEMY https://mermoz-academy.com    / @mermozacademy   in Tours, France. It is neither an official ICAO FCL .055 level test, nor an FCL .055 mock test. However, this tool can be used to assess the 6 language skills of flight crews. This oral expression test also briefly assesses the use of phraseology during pilot-controller R/T exchanges. The initial test is quite similar except that it can be adapted to the starting level of the aspiring pilot. In other words, the fictitious flight can sometimes be dropped. The test includes : A presentation with some basic questions about you and aviation. A short description of an image relating to aviation. A short series of unusual situation messages in French to be relayed into English. There is no need to use procedure English, nor is there any need to use radio callsigns. Plain English is enough. 2 open questions relating to aeronautics. A short simulated flight, which may be VFR or IFR. Short debrief in French or English depending on request.
