Südtirol: Der schwere Weg zur Autonomie (1978)
South Tyrol, where bombs exploded in the 1960s in an effort to achieve secession from Italy, now appears to tourists as a peaceful idyll. Since 1972, South Tyrol, together with the province of Trento, has formed the autonomous region of Trentino-South Tyrol and has enjoyed extensive self-governing rights ever since. In 1978, six years after the Statute of Autonomy came into force, the author investigated the extent to which national, linguistic, and social tensions had been reduced or persisted.
