Construction projects involve a lot of money, and there are CONSTRUCTION MISTAKES that can cause you to waste a lot of money. With that in mind, today I'm going to show you how to avoid 5 CONSTRUCTION MISTAKES, whether it's a house or an apartment. After all, with the INCREASE IN THE PRICES OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS, everything is already more expensive. Imagine if you make a mistake and have to spend even more to repair something? Let's look at the items: ERROR 1 – USING THE WRONG MORTAR – There are many types of mortar, and each one has a specific mix, a specific dosage of cement, sand, and water. In some cases, they may also contain a water-repellent additive, a plasticizer, etc. Among the most common types of mortar are: laying mortar, used for laying ceramic and concrete blocks (it can also be polymer mortar or block adhesive); rendering mortar, where we find plastering, rendering, and finishing coats; grouting mortar, which has a structural filling function; jointing mortar; and adhesive mortar, used to bond coverings, porcelain tiles, granite, and stones (we can find it in CP I, CP II, and CP III grades). There is also mortar specifically for barbecues, tile-over-tile mortar, etc. Using the wrong mortar can cause the covering to detach, cracks, dampness in the walls, and much more. ERROR 2 – FAILURE TO WATERPROOF AND RESULT IN EFFLORESCENCE OR SALTPETER – This is a construction problem that keeps many people awake at night. It's a white stain that runs down walls, floors, pools, slabs, etc. It's caused by salts that come out of the coating when the water inside the wall evaporates. There are many causes for this, which I will show you in the video, but if you don't waterproof the surfaces correctly, in some cases there is no solution; you will clean this efflorescence and it will always come back. ERROR 3 – BULGING, CRACKING, AND BREAKING FLOORS – This occurs when the tiles jump, detach from the walls and the floor, often due to incorrect expansion joints between the tile and wall, using incorrect grout spacing (smaller than specified by the manufacturer), causing the tile to expand and detach from the mortar. Other causes include installing tiles without double bonding, damp plaster or screed, humidity, infiltration, poor quality materials, inadequate mix, etc. ERROR 4 – PLACING A COOKING GAS CYLINDER INSIDE THE HOUSE IN A CABINET – Never place a cooking gas cylinder inside the house. This is a very dangerous item, as cooking gas is highly flammable; an accident could be fatal for you and your family. Always keep your gas cylinder in an outdoor shelter or gas storage area with good ventilation to avoid domestic accidents, or have piped gas which is much safer. There are various types of pipes available, such as copper pipes, multilayer pipes, and several types of hoses as well; ERROR 5 – NOT TAKING CARE OF GRANITE OXIDATION – Granite is a natural stone, and as such, its mineralogical composition contains elements that can oxidize. Therefore, it's always good to properly waterproof your stone, or if you already have the problem, be careful with certain homemade solutions that can damage your granite countertop, for example.
