Live & Unscripted! Featuring FILAMENTS, a free motion quilting design

Working out the details of a new free motion quilting design is the highlight topic of this Quilting Reality Show episode. This project is entirely free motion quilting; without a pattern or pantograph. FILAMENTS is a new design for me; in fact I've only quilted on 2 previous projects. Its seemed very fitting for this Christmas-y, sparkly quilt. In this episode I focused on how I develop a new freehand design. What are important features of a free motion design? Is it easy to remember and repeat? How can I make it flow gracefully, and move across the quilt top? What are some options for traveling, or transitioning? Can quilting free motion designs seriously improve your custom quilting skills? And much, much more. On the last pass, I ran out of backing before I ran out of quilt. Yikes! Since this is a reality show, I talked off the cuff about several different options for fixing the dreaded short backing disaster.
